British Wool 4 Ply Yarn

In 2020 we saw the distressing news that farmers were literally having to destroy there fleeces as they were pretty much worthless.  After a bit of discussion we thought we better try and help out even a small way and commissioned are own yarns to be spun.

The Portland and Alpaca 4 ply is very first of our 'homegrown' yarns. 

The Portland fleeces were sourced from a farm at Harrogate, the alpaca came from Harrogate and York and it was spun at the Halifax Spinning Mill.

The yarn you see before you has been completely sourced and manufactured in Yorkshire.

This is a natural yarn, it's not rough but it's not commercial yarn either. Yes it still smells slightly of sheep but it's lovely to knit with.

It is great for knitting natural coloured shawls, hats and accessories and it would make a beautiful but very warm jumper.

Blend: 70% Portland Wool & 30% Alpaca
